WHAT IS YOUR PLAN ?

One might say - - WHAT IS MY PLAN - - WHAT IS ALL THE FUSS ABOUT ?Daikin22.jpg

Well if you haven’t heard.....

Or maybe you have heard......

Or maybe you just didn’t really want to hear or think about it...........  Doesn't matter...........

….here it comes.......... If your HVAC system was built and installed before January 1, 2010, there’s a good chance that it uses R22 refrigerant and per the US Environmental Protection Agency, R22 refrigerant will become illegal in the United States on January 1, 2020.  After that R22 refrigerant phase outdate, R22 refrigerant can no longer be manufactured or imported into the US. ~epa.gov

So what does that mean for you ?

* R-22 phasing out in 2020 – you must make an informed decision

* Consider the impact on your home / business of being with indoor comfort

* You must find a licensed, qualified, EPA certified company

* Factor in efficiencies and energy savings

* Plan for replacement – brand – warranties

* What financing options are available to spread out the cost

* Plan NOW in order to minimize your risk.

What Is Refrigerant aka Freon, Anyway?

The refrigerant in your HVAC system is the fluid that flows inside the coils of your equipment that makes its way through a process
by transferring heat from one part of the system to another thus providing cooling and/or heating inside your home or business.

And contrary to popular belief – you don’t “just need freon”. If your system is low on refrigerant (doesn’t matter the kind...R-22, R410),
the system loses it through a leak or a part. Systems DO NOT “use it up” - they lose it!

So if you are having issues with your system and refrigerant is the issue you have some decisions to consider.

It is important to select a reliable service contractor. Technicians must have EPA Section 608 certification to service equipment
containing R-22.
Request that service technicians locate leaks instead of “topping off”. This protects the ozone layer and saves
you money by optimizing performance
of your existing equipment. It is illegal to intentionally release any refrigerant
when making repairs.
Technicians must use refrigerant recovery equipment during service.                              www.epa.gov

Working with a EPA qualified service technician who will provide ongoing, regular service to your system is an important
measure for maintaining its efficiency and refrigerant charge. To identify a qualified service technician, go to HVACR advice.com
to locate local technicians certified through North American Technician Excellence (NATE).
Technicians servicing R-22 air conditioning systems must have EPA Section 608 certification and
carry a card verifying this credential. It also is illegal for them to intentionally
release any refrigerant when making repairs.                                                         ~ Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute

R22-Refrigerant-1.jpgWhat If My Current System has R22 Refrigerant?

The ban doesn’t require you to replace a functioning, R22 refrigerant AC or heat pump system. However, as the
January 1, 2020 ban date approaches, you may need to evaluate your options if your air conditioning or heat pump
system fails or requires emergency repairs.

OPTION 1: REPAIR

Even though OPTION 1 may sound like an easy fix, the price of R22 refrigerant is subject to shrinking supply.
This may make R22 very expensive. As the supply becomes limited, you may end up paying more for a repair that requires R22 refrigerant.
Remember that HVAC systems are not designed to consume refrigerant - THEY LOSE IT.

OPTION 2: REPLACE

Something we hear all the time - “I just want to make it through one more season”. If this sounds familiar, you may want to consider OPTION 2 instead of putting money into your existing equipment. The cost of repair could actually become a down payment on a new HVAC system.  Allow us to give you a FREE quote and review all your options for replacement.
